Its a bit vague
Very hard to get Dire pets though if you start the game and try to level your Stalker as you go. As far as i know you get sod all pet skills. Dire Black Widow ftw |

Dire Pet
OK I finally got this guide to work for me (third try). I thought I was following it and I was as far as having my pet deal out the supermajority of the damage however I wasn't doing enough prevention of damage to my pet and I wasn't taking enough damage.
I used both Otyugh's cry and Call of protection. Then I picked up a crappy low damage sword so that I was sure I'd be in the middle of things. And it worked! |

I followed the guide, and trained my Lynx on the Minotaurs outside of Ice Tooth Cave (one of the suggested training spots). I used Life Bond instead of Symbiotic, as the Health Regen on the pet is pointless if you're trying to reduce the damage it takes to 0. Mixed in Call of Protection, picked up a +15e staff, and let the pet tank for me. I FORCED the pet to take as much aggro as possible. But, the pet was taking 0 damage nearly the whole time, from level 5 to 15. And, because my pet was dealing 95%+ of the damage, and still taking no damage, I'm proud to say I have a Dire Lynx now.
That's not random, no matter what crazy theory you may have. Follow the pet guide. |

FWIW I made my pet bird Dire by killing the two pairs of Jungle Trolls outside Bloodstone Fen over and over and over. Only took a couple of hours. You just need to jack up BM and use those attack skills while taking all the troll aggro yourself.
My build: BM: 16 WS: ~10 Exp: ~10 1. Troll Unguent 2. Disrupting Lunge 3. Ferocious Strike {e} 4. Brutal Strike 5. Feral Lunge 6. Call of Haste 7. Charm Animal 8. Winnowing I'd keep Unguent up at all times, cast Winnowing just to speed up the process a little, cast Feral Lunge to initiate battle, use Disrupting Lunge (along with Call of Haste) to interrupt their Unguents, and basically just spam the 3 pet attacks. I'd use a no req shield and an axe just to keep the Trolls aggroed on me. If my pet started taking damage, I'd just log back to town and start over. You don't really need any of the pet defense skills cause the pet won't be taking ANY damage. |
